Technically this isn’t even supposed to be funny. . . it’s just what they should have done. Tuvok even points out that interfering in any way, including the way they do, is a violation of the Prime Directive.

Voyager did of course suffer terribly from the same problem as Quantum Leap before it. (and heck, it wasn’t new then . . . what was the first must-get-home show? The Time Tunnel?) You knew the obvious short-cuts home would never work because that was the whole premise of the show.
The reverse was true in Enterprise. You knew the Xindi wouldn’t succeed in destroying the Earth and ending the series early, no matter how much you wanted it.

Back when Voyager was still running we used to think the last episode should have Commander Data walk onto the bridge and say “Oh, did I leave this running? Computer, end program.”
They didn’t do that, but of course when Enterprise ended they did almost EXACTLY this. Okay, so it was Commander Riker instead of Data, but they did use our idea. The filthy idea thieves. Awesome.
I’ll tell the truth, I love Voyager. It’s as if someone took the silliness of original Star Trek and brought it right up to date. I even like the Warp 10 episode, Threshold, but possibly because its cheesy and annoys some of my friends. Rest assured, sooner or later I will do a comic set in Voyager’s shuttlecraft factory.
